IMPROVISATION
The arrangement of movement that can be interpreted in varied ways. Partnering with live musicians, movers are free to dance with the fluidity and spontaneity of the music.
DISCUSSION
Providing instructors from within and outside the university, there will be opportunities to explore and expand on ideas in this judgement free environment.
COLLABORATION
Finding the pockets of the music and truly living in the moment is something that we encourage our movers to indulge in. Playing live music offers the chance for an interaction between artists.

Our club wants to initiate a combination of live music with movement experimentation. Anyone who can play an instrument is welcomed and highly encouraged to learn and share their passion.

Individual and contact improvisation will be explored, affiliated with each person's level of comfortability. You do not have to be a dance major to join - simply be open to enjoying what the room has to offer.

If one is unable to or would prefer to watch the class, we challenge them to absorb what information is given, journal anything that they feel should be remembered, and ask questions.

The Jazz Co-Lab Club at University of California, Irvine is dedicated to cultivating a vibrant and inclusive community of dancers and musicians from all majors. Our mission is to foster the art of improvisational jazz dance, nurturing creativity, and igniting the joy of movement among our members. Anyone with experience in music or movement is welcome as well as bring their own instruments to participate.
